WHO WE ARE
VEMCO Engenharia Ltda. was established in 1996 with the aim of presenting technological solutions in the area of industrial automation that provide innovation, productivity and competitiveness seeking recognition and loyalty. In addition, through a branch of the company, it began to evaluate opportunities to acquire production assets on land and in shallow waters, as well as to identify upsides in oil and gas production concession areas. It has a complete multidisciplinary team ranging from geologists, geophysicists, reservoir and production engineers to data scientist. As a company focused on technology, we created a group of excellence in Data Science. Data Science or Data Science is a multidisciplinary field of study that encompasses data, algorithms and technologies capable of extracting value from structured or unstructured data and solving analytically complex problems. It is from the large amount of raw data that data scientists combine skills to analyze and obtain synthetic results from the cross-data. Data has become one of the main sources used in making corporate decisions. Thanks to advances in analysis and computational robustness, they are able to help companies define new investments, cut costs, optimize processes, among other applications. Thus, data science has become crucial for business, as there is nothing further to have a lot of information available if it is not validated and analyzed. It is with this thought that we created VEMCO PETRÓLEO E GÁS.

Ciro Appi, PhD
He has 40 years of experience in the area of oil and gas exploration geology, reservoir characterization and in the technological development of the E&P segment. He served as exploration and reservoir geologist for Petrobrás. He participated in numerous exploration projects in the Espirito Santo, Campos and Santos basins. At CENPES / Petrobrás he led the area of rock studies and genetic stratigraphy. He was the manager of geophysics and implemented the setup of the rock physics laboratory. He was manager of the strategic program for new exploratory frontiers (PROFEX). In 2004 he was executive manager of the gechronos- network in the Ministry of Mines and Energy and later creator and manager of the technological development center of the geological service of Brazil SGB / CPRM / BDEP / ANP (2005 to 2011). In 2011 he was invited to be exploration manager at Amerada Hess and became exploration director at Hess Brasil Petroleum, an American operator that participated in the exploration of Brazil in post-salt assets in the Espirito Santo basin and in the pre-salt of the Santos basin. In 2016 he started to act as a technical consultant for several oil and gas companies such as OGX, Petra, Parnaiba Gás, Eneva, Gasenergy, Gasporto and more recently at Enauta. He was coordinator of numerous R&D projects at Petrobrás in partnership with other oil companies, research institutions and universities in Brazil and abroad. He participated in joint work with universities abroad such as Columbia at the Lamont Doherty Instititute NY, Stanford in California and IFP in France and at the University of Parma Italia. He is the author and co-author of several dozen scientific works published in Brazil and abroad, and editor, co-author and author of three technical books. They have participated in research projects funded by CNPQ, PETROBRAS, CPRM and FINEP. In 2003, together with the technological research institute, the São Paulo State Science and Technology Innovation Award was awarded for the project to build a “simulator to help mitigate drilling risks in pre-salt prospects, in areas of great salt thickness. ”. Finally, in 2004 he was honored by SBG with a medal at the XlII Brazilian Congress of Geology in Araxá - MG.
